I hear some folks talking about a new constitutional convention. Why bother? If the political class we have won’t bother to follow the constitution we already have, why would they follow a new one? We would be better off with an amendment calling for capital punishment for those elected officials who violate the constitution. Think we’d have a national welfare program if we had such an amendment? Or farm subsidies? Or a department of indoctrination, erm, education? I think not.
